The producer

Who are they?

The Jodoin family’s story in Rougemont begins in 1901, when Jean-Baptiste Jodoin bought an orchard of about one hundred apple trees. A fourth generation of apple growers, Michel Jodoin learned cidermaking from his father Jean and his grandfather Ernest, then honed his knowledge in Europe, notably in Champagne. Cidrerie Michel Jodoin opened in 1988 and became one of the pioneering Quebec producers of traditional-method cider. Over the decades it developed an extensive range of ciders and is particularly distinguished by its work with the Geneva, a red-fleshed apple.

Exploring multiple expressions of cider

Traditional method, still ciders, sparkling ciders, ice ciders and spirits allow the cidery to explore many facets of the Quebec apple.

Le Premier Verre

Why we follow them.

Because Michel Jodoin is one of the producers who help make sense of Quebec cider’s evolution. His story ties the family orchard to the early days of modern artisanal cider and a constant search for new expressions of the apple. His work with the Geneva also gives the cidery an instantly recognizable identity.
