Who are they?
Delinquente Wine Co. is an Australian project founded by winemaker Greg Grigoriou in the Riverland region of South Australia. Rather than reproducing the styles traditionally associated with major international varieties, the estate works notably with Italian grape varieties suited to the region's hot, dry climate. The grapes come from family vineyards and the wines are made with a low-intervention mindset, using spontaneous fermentations and a focus on freshness. Delinquente's wines also stand out for their very recognizable visual identity and their relaxed approach to wine.
Their approach
What sets them apart.
Grape varieties suited to the climate
Delinquente favors Italian varieties capable of performing well in Riverland's hot, dry conditions rather than simply reproducing the viticultural models of cooler regions.
Low intervention
The wines are made with a simple, low-intervention approach, including spontaneous fermentations, to preserve the fruit, freshness and character of the grapes.
Another side of Riverland
The project offers a new take on Riverland by showing that this large Australian wine region can also produce original, precise wines suited to a new generation of consumers.

Le Premier Verre
Why we follow them.
Because Delinquente lets you talk about several things at once without making wine complicated: adapting grape varieties to the climate, the new generation of Riverland producers, and a very direct take on low-intervention wines. Tuff Nutt is also an excellent entry point for concretely understanding what a pétillant naturel is.
